En la caliza arrecifal de Minatxuri, la mina blanca, cima situada en el cordal de Erroizpe - Gazteluaitz (Gaztelu, Gipuzkoa) existe
una pequeña mina de yeso, donde se explotaron vetas de este mineral incluidas en la serie caliza. Las minas abandonadas, como
otras cavidades artificiales, comparten con las cuevas naturales muchas características y a menudo están en comunicación con
mesocavernas y vacíos menores, que las aguas subterráneas pueden ir retrabajando. Como otros hábitats de reciente creación,
pueden ser pobladas por microorganismos y por animales de hábitos cavernícolas. Esta pequeña mina llamó nuestra atención tanto
por contener vetas de yeso y espeleotemas de calcita, como por estar habitada por una población de quirópteros Rhinolophidae y
diversas especies de invertebrados, a los que la mina proporciona refugio. El trabajo describe los principales rasgos geo-biológicos
que presenta la cavidad y discute aspectos relacionados con la colonización y formación de ecosistemas hipógeos. In the reef limestone of Minatxuri, the white mine, top located in the Erroizpe - Gazteluaitz mountain range (Gaztelu, Gipuzkoa),
there is a small gypsum mine, where veins of this mineral, included in the limestone series, were mined. Abandoned mines, like
other artificial cavities, share many features with natural caves and are often in communication with mesocaverns and smaller voids,
which groundwater can be reworked. Like other habitats of recent creation, they can be populated by microorganisms and by
animals with cave-like habits. This small mine caught our attention both for containing gypsum veins and speleothems of calcite, as
well as being inhabited by a population of bats Rhinolophidae and various species of invertebrates, to which the mine provides
refuge. The work describes the main geo-biological features of the cavity and discusses aspects related to the colonization and
formation of hypogeous ecosystems.
