The calculi were studied by chemical analysis, scanning electron microscopy and spectrophotometry. The same techniques were applied to other calculus material obtained from a seventh century necropolis. This communication presents these results and emphasizes the accuracy of the techniques independently of the age and degree of contamination of the human organic remains.
