These dunes are home to around 20 species catalogued at the regional level, several of them included in the red list of Spanish vascular flora. Among them is Galium arenarium, a species whose only peninsular locality is in Iñurritza. After the storm, only two specimens survived (19 were counted in 2013). Fortunately, in 2013, numerous seeds of this endemic were collected from the Bay of Biscay, which made it possible to strengthen the population and save it from extinction.
